President Obama has been criticized by some quarters for his seeming inability to make a quick decision whether to commit more troops to Afghanistan. To his supporters, his patience is a virtue of competent leadership and making the right decision is paramount.
A letter writer to the Chicago Tribune seems to fall in line with the latter, and took their staff cartoonist, Scott Stantis, to task for implying in his cartoon that Obama’s so-called “dithering” is costing us lives on the battlefield.
“Our previous president rushed us into Afghanistan, then rushed us out with the job unfinished in order to rush us into Iraq — all to horrific consequences,” Daniel Welch wrote in to the paper.
“Conservatives like Stantis who deride Obama’s careful thoughtfulness would do well to remember the price paid in blood and treasure for George W. Bush’s reckless thoughtlessness.
