Drew Litton, the former sports cartoonist at the now-defunct Rocky Mountain News, has fulfilled one of his dreams by becoming a contributor to sports giant ESPN.
Starting today, Drew will be providing cartoons to ESPN.com’s Commentary page every Monday. His first cartoon, about the greed behind the decision to expand the NCAA tournament to 96 teams, can be seen here.
Since the shut-down of the Rocky Mountain News, Litton has been steadily picking up new clients and working a dizzying schedule. In addition to drawing weekly cartoons for the Chicago Tribune (Q & A with Litton here), Litton draws cartoons for 9News, The Guadalupe County Communicator, North Metro News and Mile High Sports magazine. He also draws 2 cartoons a week for United Features Syndicate.
“That’s what life is like as a freelancer who doesn’t have the luxury of a job at a big newspaper,” Litton posted on his blog. “Gotta do a lot to make ends meet.”
