The car as metaphor. It’s certainly overused, but it’s apt, though I have to ask the Republicans what’s wrong with being the steering wheel? Why not the windshield wipers so we can clearly see the rough economic road ahead? Or how about the carburetor that mixes the air of creativity with the fuel of need? Why not be the crankshaft that passes the power of good ideas to the clutch of tractable voters, the headlights of truth shining bravely forward, the center console of ideological balance, the seat belt of societal safety net and protection? How about the spark plug of inspiration firing the internal combustion of leadership? The transmission of genius to the drive shaft of moderation.
The hell with it. I’m going for a ride.
