Englehart’s View by Bob Englehart
I’ve talked to people from all over the country and all over the world during the holiday season and I’ve come to this conclusion. Whatever we decide to do about guns and gun control is filled with pitfalls, so, pick your pitfalls.
Geneticists are studying the DNA of the Sandy Hook Elementary School killer to see if there’s anything they can find out about him on a molecular level. Maybe that’s ultimately the answer. I still say that a hundred years from now, doctors will take a newborn baby, extract his or her DNA, examine it for susceptibility to disease, tweak it, put it back and like magic, the kid will grow up free of the maladies that affect us today.
Maybe the scientists will be able to fix a broken spirit, a madness, a tendency toward violence. Even that is filled with pitfalls. Again, what pitfalls are you willing to live with?
