Today marks the 102nd birthday of our 40th President. Ronald Wilson Reagan was born into a working class family in Illinois and rose to be a transformational figure in the 20th century. President Reagan saw America as a special place, a shining city on a hill, and a beacon of freedom for the rest of the world.
It is a sad state of affairs when those in the mainstream media try to compare President Reagan to President Barack Obama. They are polar opposites both philosophical and how they interact with the American people. Ronald Reagan was the peoples President and Barack Obama is the divider in chief. Ronald Reagan scorned Big Government and Barack Obama embraces it. Ronald Reagan believed that America is an exceptional nation and Barack Obama believes America is just one of many exceptional nations. I could go on and on highlighting the differences but you can see where I am going with this. The greatness of Ronald Reagan just does not come close to the folly of Barack Obama.
A few years ago, Citizens United Productions teamed up with Newt and Callista Gingrich to produce “Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous With Destiny”. This feature length documentary focuses on the three pillars of the Reagan presidency: reviving the American economy, restoring America’s spirit, and challenging the oppression of the Soviet Union. Through interviews with historians, cabinet members, and world leaders, the film examines and celebrates the Great Communicator and his legacy.
We traveled across the United States and to historic locations in Europe to capture the sights and sounds that defined Ronald Reagan’s presidency. You’ll see exclusive interviews and footage of President Reagan’s greatest speeches, from his unforgettable “Tear Down This Wall” in Berlin, to the moving “Boys of Pointe Du Hoc” in France, to his stirring farewell address from the Oval Office. Shooting on location in four countries, “Rendezvous With Destiny” goes to unprecedented lengths to tell the remarkable tale of Ronald Reagan’s life.
The film features exclusive interviews with late President Vaclav Havel of the Czech Republic, President Lech Walesa of Poland, along with Reagan Cabinet and staff members including James Baker, Edwin Meese, Marlin Fitzwater, Richard Perle, William Bennett, and the late Jack Kemp, “Rendezvous With Destiny” is President Reagan’s story as told by the people who were with him on the front lines of the Reagan Revolution.
President Reagan was a true statesman who loved the American spirit. He never wavered on his core conservative principles and saw America for what it is – a shining city on a hill. Americans must never forget what he stood for. Ronald Reagan was and still is an American patriot who will go down in history as one of the greats. Happy Birthday, Mr. President.
