In January I drew this slightly updated cartoon marking 50 years of MLK’s “I have a dream speech.” The technique I used was inspired by watching young Cameroonian artists at work in Yaoundé, Cameroon, West Africa spending so much time using the Pointillism technique of painting to create beautiful portraits and illustrations mostly in black and white. This was during my first visit in 2010.
Every African-American may not end up being the President of the United States of America, but since the speech 50 years ago, dreams have come true for many, such as successful yalk show Hosts, CEO’s of companies, philanthropists, singers and musicians, entertainers, educationists, governors, painters, illustrators and comic artists, publishers, news anchor men and women, journalists, politicians and ambassadors, giant screen and small screen actors and actresses, business men and women, inventors…. and the list goes on.
Dreams come true….Thanks Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
