Subject: Big government and Rush
Mr. Cagle,
I was astounded by your cartoons about Rush.
I have always heard Rush say that Liberals resort to name calling and
insults, but never believed until now. However as a conservative I do
believe in freedom of speech, so have a ball.(I did laugh at a couple of
them.)
My next subject is your facts about our wonderful government. I cant
understand why Liberals that slam conservatives dont get the big
picture.
True conservatives are trying to stop the "BIG BROTHER" government from
invading every facet of life. You hate Rush, you hate what Rush stands
for, but yet, strangely enough, you do have some common beliefs.
Of course you will never be man enough to admit to it.
Well I guess I'll go haul some more old growth timber on my log truck.
(I love the sound those 250 foot douglas firs make when they hit the
ground.)
Sincerely, Jay Stewart, Lebanon,Oregon
Liberals like to regulate business, but not morality. Conservatives like to regulate morality, but not business. I don't want the government regulating anything and I don't like arrogant apologists for the political establishment --like Rush. It's not so hard to understand.
I also, don,t agree with political regulation of moral issues. However,
the natural balance of cause and effect has been upset by the liberal
agenda. When the majority of a country and it's leaders vote in favor of
blatent disobiendence to the commandments of God, and the laws of the
land originally designed to protect principal based moral issues,
protect the guilty. And world history repeats it's self as the nation
heads toward destruction. I feel the necessity to embrace a political
party that bases it's belief on principal center leadership. I currently
don,t find even a close example of that in our current president.
Ask a liberal whats wrong with this country and he'll say "poverty." Ask a conservative and he'll say "moral decline." I'd much rather have Clinton regulating the economy than have some moral zealots regulating my bedroom, censoring the internet, waging a war on drugs, abortion, bilingual eduation, art museums --the list goes on and on.
By the way, most of my government waste cartoons are Ronald Reagan's waste; I'm thinking of putting up a "Big Spending Republicans TRUE Cartoon Site" --I've got a lot of "big spending Republican" cartoons --what do you think? You won't hear that stuff from Rush.
As previously considered what may be a threat to the american way of
life I find a typical liberal term used, "Regulate". Why put up road
blocks and fences? True principal centered leadership provides avenues
that are morally correct without regulation. One of the founding
principals of this country was "freedom". Today we have less of that
than 200 years ago, due to regulation. The constution gave us the
guidline and basic principals to govern our nation. Take gun control for
instance, today our goverment is trying every angle to remove firearms
from the hands of americans. Where in the constution the principal of
owning a firearm was to ensure that the people of this nation would not
be oppressed by a corupt goverment.

As a parent I have the responsibility to raise my 5 children to become
the best people they can, and contribuite to society, not be a burden to
it. I strive to teach then correct principals to govern their lives,
allowing then to make their own choices and learning from the results of
their actions. Offering rewards for positive behavior and natural or
logical consinquences for negitive behavior. This concept has been
proven to be the most effective method of teaching. Yet our goverment
does the opposite in respect to those who acheive, their taxed beyond
reason and the non acheivers are rewarded by our goverment. I find that
type of leadership destructive. However, I beleive the current goverment
would like all of it's "potential subjects" to rely on them rather than
themselves for growth and prosperity. Please done misunderstand my
objective, I enjoy your art for art, I enjoy listening to Rush for the
entertainment and awareness. But, I'm concerned about what my children
are seeing in our countrys leadership, while their struggling for their
own sense right and wrong and self direction.
Thanks for the response.
OK, David. Be cool.

Daryl (I think that's your real name...)
Hi! My name is Tyson Trebesch, and I am most definitely a dittohead. The
cartoons are entertaining, but they don't make me angry. They make me
laugh. They make me shake my head in complete understanding of the people
who drew them.
1. They are all liberals.
2. They have no real basis to defend their political position other than
cutting down someone who does not share their views.
3. A person's physical stature should have no bearing on their self-worth
or the truth of their actions.
4. If it is indeed true that Rush didn't register to vote until he was 35,
big deal. His head is in the right place, which is more than I can say for
the people who drew these cartoons.
5. These people love to question others and make fun of their political
beliefs, and yet cannot defend themselves properly when someone questions
them.
6. Ha ha ha! Rush is right!
I'll drop by your homepage, trying to find some good Rush webpages. Let me
know if you have any good links.
Thanks, Tyson

Again, you Dittoheads all seem to think that someone who doesn't like Rush must be a "liberal." Libertarians have just as much reason not to like Rush. Check out my Government cartoons.

Hi Daryl, thanks for your reply...
You have a good point in that most dittoheads think the people who don't like Rush (or at least some dittoheads) are all liberals. You're right. They are not. My mistake was implying that.
Keep in touch. I like your homepage; someday I'll have one of my own. :)
Take care.
Sincerely, Tyson Trebesch

You`re obviously upset with what Rush stands for, could it be that the
truth hurts? You probably believe in OBE,third trimester abortions, bigger(is
better) government, and of course big brother Bill Clinton.
You`re so blinded by what you here from the media(which is 90% LIBERAL)
that you can`t see for yoursself what is really going on in the country.
I don`t believe that Rush is always right but he does bring up
some pretty good points that you can look into for yourself. And he
brings up alot of things that you don`t hear of from the mainstream
media.
I don`t believe in any one thing except GOD, but to get
information from only one source or view point is foolish. One should
get as much information as possible before making any educated
decisions. If more Americans would do this Clinton would not be in
office today.

Subject: so sad!

I find it truely saddening that you would disgrace yourself as an
American by placing such idiotic material on the net. I do believe in the
freedom of speach and understand the need for people to express their own
veiws on a variety of topics. However, cartoons that display absolutely no
intelligence and intend only to insult people based on very superficial
attitudes are nothing more than childish!
I'm not sending you this E-mail to insult you or attempt to upset you. I
just think people, liberal or conservative, should use intelligent
conversation or a respectable forum to discuss their beliefs or disbeliefs.
Thank you if you've read this far.

Actually, I was just trying to get your attention. I loved your web site
and, of course, the Rush cartoons. You might like to check out the chapter
on Mr. Limbaugh in Howard Kurtz's book "Hot Air: All Talk, All The Time".
It's a chilling account of how politics and political commentary are
perverted by the talk show format as currently practiced by most media
markets. A good read.

Sincerely,
Pat Ciernia (rhymes with Hernia...I've heard it before)

Loved the art work in your cartoons, you are quite good, although not
as good as my nephew Michael. Some of the cartoons were funny, while
others strained to be funny.
I think the ones pointing out that Limbaugh never voted for Reagan and
not voting until the age of 35 are quite effective, if true.
This "Ditto Head" was not offended. I actually enjoyed the art work. I
wonder how your responses are running, i.e. %Pro and %Con?

Auf Weidersehen,
Tom B.
About 60% con-40% pro. I'll count yours as neutral.

National Lampoon in the early-mid 70's was funny
The first 3 seasons of SNL were funny
Most of the cartoons in Playboy are funny
3rd Rock From the Sun is funny
Animal House was funny
Dave Barry is funny
Gary Larson (Far Side) was funny
Gary Truedeau was funny for the first week or so
Rush is funny, but on occassion he chaps my cheeks.
You are not funny, just suffering from the common misconception that all
men are created interesting.
Larry King is hilarious when he asks those hard-hitting questions like
"whats your favorite color?", or "How would you like to be remembered,
Mrs Clinton?"
Andy Rooney is not funny (unless being a cranky old has-been is an
unappreciated art form)
Keep on plugging away, highschool newspapers need cartoonists too.

While the cartoons are obviously not funny, your artwork does show some
promise. My recommendation would be to enroll in a professional art school,
refine the talents you do have, and then look for a partner with comedic
talents to help you with your text. Good Luck and God Bless

Subject: Commie Liberal left-wing extremests are IDIOTS
Date: Thu, 28 Nov 1996

Dear Daryl,
Tell your commie-liberal left-wing extremest freinds that honesty is the
best policy. It is a proven fact that if President Clinton was half as
honest or as intelligent as you are stupid, he would be somewhere between
Washington and Lincoln. Remeber, President Clinton's "brain:total body
weight" ratio is 1% also. Fast food is very fattening, so it makes sense
that poor people who have little time to eat due to work load are fat. Most
actors, like Sonny Bono, or even people like Rush, are to busy to vote.
Kemp for President 2000.

Remember C3 = Clinton, Corruption, and Communism
Hillary's the only lawyer in the country who is an expert in health care,
education, welfare, and getting around the civil code. What a smart women.
She should be President. Oh, I forgot SHE IS!
Ifr Clinton is the answer, it must have been a stupid question.
Clinton doesn't inhale, He just SUCKS!
You're a sap,

Hi Daryl,
I visited your pages, and I must admit that you have a very good
original idea for your strip. Combined with a most heartwarming
drawing style, your cartoon is the best one-panel strip I have seen
for a long time. Oh, and I saw your "fan" mail page as well.
Certainly the good ole U.S. of A has got more than its fair share
of silly people, but there probably doesn't exist a single other
country in the world where they are so eager to spell it out loud,
and are even proud of their ignorance. Who's that Limburger guy anyway?

All the best to you and your cartoon,
Teemu

Hi Daryl, how are you? I seen your cartoons, and I am sorry, but they were
just not funny. They didnt make me mad or anything, I just thought they
stupid. No offense. They seem really childish, and this is coming from a guy
who still loves the three stooges and yosemite sam. My spelling stinks by the
way. Well that is all I wanted to say. I wish you the best and hope you take
care.
