I can't remember summer. I look at my deck and I know my wife and I sat there and watched the sunset, drinking a gin and tonic. I have a vague memory, or was it a dream? I smoked a cigar and pruned and watered the flowering plants while she read. Or maybe she pruned and watered while I read. I don't know anymore.

Now there's no room on our deck for sitting. The snow is piled up taller than the chairs that are somewhere hidden under the sugary white mounds. My barbecue grill is under there, too, maybe in that mound by the door.

During a winter like this, I wish I had a sport to go with the weather. I don't. The only winter sports I have are indoor sports, the sofa luge, the rocking chair/recliner relay and the snackathon. Boy my jeans are tight.

I'll be a guest on Colin McEnroe's radio program Monday, January 31, from 1PM to @PM. Give us a call.
