OK, so far, so good with Governor Dan Malloy. He's taking a pragmatic approach to balancing the state budget, up to, and including destroying the state labor unions. Sorry, I just listened to Noam Chomsky on National Public Radical, and boy, I don't know what to make of him.
According to Chomsky, the United States government is a criminal enterprise perpetuated by felons, both Democrats and Republicans. Reagan started the destruction of labor unions, which I recognize, and Clinton continued it with NAFTA. The middle class has lost ground, our income has atrophied and, according to Chomsky, the destruction of the unions is to blame.
I don't know where the truth lies, but I'd like to see us come together to work out a system that benefits everyone instead of just the top 1 percent before we're rioting in the streets like in Egypt, Bahrain, Libya and Madison, Wisconsin.
