I think it would be really stupid for the legislature to make Connecticut the only state in the union to mandate paid sick leave. We already have a reputation as a difficult place to have a business and this new law would just add another nail in the coffin.

If anything, the legislature should be taking away burdens on business, not adding to them. My friends who are small businessmen have fewer than 50 employees, so they won't really be affected either way. I don't know who this law is aimed at. I suspect most companies with 50 or more employees already offer their full-timers paid sick days. They certainly do if they want to attract the best people.
