Cristina Sampaio lives in Lisbon. She graduated in 1985 from the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. She has been working since 1986 as an illustrator and cartoonist for several magazines and newspapers in Portugal and abroad. Her work has been shown in several international exhibitions. Among other awards, she received three times an Award of Excellence from the USA Society for News Design and a Silver Medal from SND Spain. She also received twice the Stuart Award for the best Portuguese press cartoon. She received the first prize, and an Honorable Mention, in the editorial category of the World Press Cartoon.
