So much for the “hope” and “change” President Obama promised four-years ago. According to a recent poll done for The Hill newspaper, 56 percent of likely voters surveyed believe Obama’s “change” to be for the worst. Even Democrats, according to the poll, have turned their backs on the President. Coupled with the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll where 61 percent of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track, one can draw the conclusion that the American people are thoroughly rejecting the policies of President Obama.
We are at a crossroads in American history; with the U.S. Supreme Court’s disappointing approval of Obamacare, the U.S. faces its largest social welfare expansion since FDR’s New Deal. With the understanding that Obamacare is indeed a tax (contrary to what the president has said since the inception of his universal healthcare plan) we as Americans are due to face the biggest tax hike in American history. Add the $675 billion in Obamacare tax increases to its $1.76 trillion cost over the next decade, and it is safe to say that generations of Americans will be paying for the fatally flawed policies of Barack Obama.
All this distrust from the American people does not even include reaction to the announcement that Obama wants to extend only part of the Bush tax cuts. This decision to raise taxes on families and small businesses making more than $250,000 a year is a prime example of the dishonest and hypocritical tactics Obama has taken on during his reelection campaign. Back in 2009, President Obama said, “Normally, you don't raise taxes in a recession, which is why we haven't and why we have, instead, cut taxes.” Well Mr. President, you should heed your own words instead of playing class warfare because it might be good for your campaign.
The change, hope, and progress that the American electorate was promised in 2008 didn’t include the current economic climate of 41 straight months of unemployment over 8 percent. President Obama has been reduced to falling back on old and tired rhetoric to distract the American people from how bad our country’s outlook truly is. Almost every month, Obama has repeatedly urged the American people to not “read too much into” the status of the economy based upon the monthly unemployment reports. Obama is playing games with Americans telling them not to pay attention to a real piece of evidence which shows Obama’s economic policies have only hurt the U.S.
President Obama has followed through on his pledge to change America with his presidency. He has implemented policies that are against the center-right nature of our country. For the first time in the history of our great country, our children may be worse off than we were. Our younger generations will face higher debt ceilings and larger, more extreme financial woes than ever before. President Obama is mortgaging our future and harming the future existence of America as we know it. He’s brought “change,” alright, but it’s change we don’t want.
