Recently, yet another horrible precedent has been set by the Obama Administration. The national debt of the federal government has skyrocketed to levels unseen by any administration to-date. President Obama has raised our national debt by over 7 trillion dollars to a grand total of over $17.5 trillion. This is not only a completely unimaginable amount of money, but an amount that future generations will have to deal with

A similarly daunting fact is one that directly affects the very people President Obama has promised time and time again to help the most – the middle class.  According to an article by CNS news, “The $7,060,259,674,497.51 in new debt that the federal government has taken on during Obama’s presidency equals $61,341.82 per household. The median household income in the United States in 2012 (the latest year estimated) was $51,017. Thus, President Obama has increased the federal debt by more than the typical household’s annual income.”

Dependence on government is key when it comes to breaking down the liberal agenda. Therefore, it would seem to make sense that such a progressive president would have the highest national debt growth in history. But this kind of reckless, irresponsible spending should cause concern – even among the most liberal democrats. Obama has taken his blank check and irresponsibly spent and spent without even giving a second thought to our future generations – who are going to have to somehow begin to clean up this giant fiscal mess.

Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, said a few years ago that the “most significant threat to our national security is our debt.”  The exploding debt under President Obama should not be taken lightly and we need real reform to curb Washington’s current willingness to spend like drunken sailors.  Unfortunately, Democrats don’t see it that way.

Democrats love to “defend” this infeasible amount of overspending by instead changing the subject and deflecting in order to talk about any social issue under the sun. Economic issues are not something Democrats readily talk about – and the reason why has become clearer than ever under this current Administration. President Obama’s promise of “Hope and Change” has added 7 trillion dollars to our national debt, and he still has two more years to go with no letup in sight.

Whether it is Obamacare, questionable bailouts, growth in social welfare programs , (the list goes on) – this administration has spent unprecedented amounts of money and the American people have not seen any successes…all they have seen is failure.
