Ever since four brave Americans were killed by Islamic terrorists in Benghazi, Libya two years ago, many questions have been raised about what then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton knew before, during, and after the fact. A shocking article by former CBS News investigative reporter Sheryl Attkisson published in The Daily Signal sheds light on what Hillary Clinton and her protectors did in the days and weeks after the attack. As someone who has investigated the Clintons for years, this type of cover up is nothing new and unfortunately expected. It’s in the Clinton playbook – obstruct and cover-up.
According to Attkisson’s reporting, “Hillary Clinton confidants were part of an operation to ‘separate’ damaging documents before they were turned over to the Accountability Review Board investigating security lapses surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya.” The story is based on an interview with Raymond Maxwell, the former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State who came forward with new details. For example, an office manager told Maxwell to “go through these stacks and pull out anything that might put anybody in the [Near Eastern Affairs] front office or the ‘seventh floor’ in a bad light” – seventh floor was a code word for Hillary Clinton and her group of “principal advisors.”
It is no surprise that leading this clandestine effort was none other than Clinton’s Chief of Staff and confidant Cheryl Mills and Deputy Chief of Staff Jake Sullivan. Both have extensive history with Hillary Clinton, and Cheryl Mills worked in the Clinton Administration during the myriad of scandals. Hillary wanted to keep whatever happened the night of September 11, 2012 in Libya under wraps that is why she tapped her most trusted aides to do her dirty work. Somewhere H.R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman would be proud.
Raymond Maxwell was also very critical of the Accountability Review Board, because it is now suspected they went through documents which had already been altered. Therefore the most “damning evidence” was missing. In addition they also failed to conduct interviews with the most obvious high-level officials. These officials included Secretary Clinton, Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides, Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs Andrew Shapiro and White House National Security Council Director for Libya Ben Fishman. These individuals would seemingly be obvious interviews conducted in the aftermath of a terrorist attack which took the lives of American citizens – but the ARB simply chose to look in the other direction. Maxwell stated, “The ARB inquiry was, at best, a shoddily executed attempt at damage control.”
The Benghazi Select Committee under the direction of former prosecutor Trey Gowdy has already interviewed Raymond Maxwell and intends to pursue his allegations about former Secretary Hillary Clinton as well as the Accountability Review Board. When reached for comment regarding Maxwell’s allegations, Congressman Jason Chaffetz stated they “go to the heart of the integrity of the State Department.”
Thankfully, the Benghazi Select Committee hearings will start this week. The treasure-trove of evidence that has been discovered in the aftermath of the events that occurred on the night of September 11, 2012 in Benghazi must be accounted for and action must be taken. My organization Citizens United and I have been calling for this Select Committee to be convened ever since it became apparent that the White House and State Department had something to hide. Hillary’s infamous “what difference does it make?”will certainly not be a suitable answer to questioning by Congressman Trey Gowdy and the rest of the Benghazi Panel.
Hopefully answers will be found and justice will be served for the grave failure that occurred that night in Benghazi, Libya which resulted in the deaths of four great Americans; J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone S. Woods.
