Chris Dodd has landed on his feet. He’s going to be the $1.2 million a year head of the Motion Picture Association of America. Not only does he get a nice salary but he can stay in Washington. Maybe Dodd can direct more of that Hollywood money to Connecticut before Dan Malloy eliminates the film tax credit, which is going to be the subject of another cartoon.

Mostly, I liked Dodd, but it all fell apart for me at the end. Looking back, he’d served Connecticut well over the years, except for his roll in the bursting housing bubble. Oh, and moving his family to Iowa in a desperate bid to run for president. And his explanation of his sweetheart Countrywide mortgage. And that cozy deal on the Irish cottage.

But that’s all behind us now. We can forgive him and move on. It’s not like he’s a Dick Nixon.

Stop by the Mark Twain House and Museum to see my exhibit of original editorial cartoon art. “Drawing Fire: Bob Englehart’s 30 years at The Courant.” It’s free and will be up through May. For more information, call the Mark Twain House and Museum at 860-247-0998. As long as you’re there, take a tour!
