It's a rare joy the past couple of years to see a Supreme Court decision with which I agree. What will Obamacare mean to the average American? I don't know exactly, but we're off to a good start.
It has seemed that every attempt to make the United States compatible with the rest of the industrialized world as far as health care goes has only made the situation more complicated without actually benefitting us. For instance, HMOs came about as a result of the Clinton attempt to simplify health care. HMOs gave us drive-thru mastectomies and a bunch of other outrages.
So, who knows what Obamacare will do for us. Long term, I hope we end up with single payer health insurance. Short term, it starts a serious plan to make health care affordable for more people. Maybe.
