John Edwards might have turned out to be a terrible husband, but hearing the details emerge from his criminal trial, he would have made a great Secret Service agent.

During the second day of testimony, Andrew Young, Edwards' former aide and the chief witness in the trial, said the former vice presidential nominee's intial reaction after learning his mistress Rielle Hunter was pregnant was to dismiss the news outright as the ravings of a "crazy slut," and told Young to "take care of it."

More from the AP:

Young said Rielle Hunter told Edwards she was pregnant in June 2007, weeks later than the aide originally claimed in a tell-all book published in 2010. Young said Edwards, told him to “take care of it,” meaning the pregnancy.

“He said she was a crazy slut and there was a 1-in-3 chance that it (the child) was his,” Young testified.

Edwards has pleaded not guilty to six counts related to campaign finance violations involving nearly $1 million in secret payments provided by two wealthy donors to cover up an affair as he sought the White House in 2008.
